TREE UPDATE
January 2008 News Article

It’s the BIG trees! When you think of a tree lined street, what comes to mind? Rows of towering Elms, Maples or Ash, majestically spanning across the roads? Streets like Superior and Chetland between Begier and Glen? THAT is what makes our neighborhood so beautiful and inviting to walk through. Compare Superior on each side of Dutton, they both have trees and beautiful homes, but I think you’ll agree that the North side trees can’t compare to the sight of the big trees on the South side. Sure these trees can be a bit messy for a few weeks in the autumn, but I bet if you asked every single homeowner with one of them, they would tell you it was worth it. And, with the monthly city street sweeping, it’s actually not that bad.

The good news! The city does offer a couple of big tress, the Raywood and Arizona Ash. I have heard that you may need to specifically request these, but they have recently put these in our neighborhood, so don’t let them talk you into one of those small, spindly trees. If you have thought about putting in a new tree, or need to replace your existing one, please consider the Ash. And don’t forget, these are free to you. Just call the Tree Maintenance department at (510) 577-3448 to request your new tree!
